H163 Toronto Ferry
The vessel described in this specification is a self-propelled ferry, intended to carry vehicles and passengers for year round service between Toronto Island Airport and the City of Toronto.
The Ferry is designed to carry up to 15 full size passenger cars stowed in three lanes of 5 automobiles and 97 passengers and 3 crew. Accommodation is provided in the Upper Deck Lounge for walk-on passengers. Seating is provided for 10 persons and the remaining passengers shall be standing through out the voyage. A wheelchair area is provided on the Main Deck.
The vessel will be designed and constructed to the most up-to-date and highest marine standard throughout and at least consistent with the terms of this specification. The finish and appearance of paint work, paneling, deck covering, seating, etc., and all items visible to passengers or with which they may be in contact is of primary importance.
It is intended that the ferry will operate for extended periods (minimum 5 years between TCMS mandatory drydocking period.) The quality of equipment and paint will be based on this requirement.
